A sobering reminder of why the little things don’t matter

Sometimes I find it easy to get tied up in the small stuff in life.

Today I received a sad reminder of how the big things in life are what really matter.

My best friend and family dog, Cookie Dough, will likely be put to rest today. She is a wonderful dog and I believe she has lived a wonderful, happy life. Never quite figured out how to speak English to her, but I’m hoping she would agree.

The saddest and hardest thing is that she is not likely to die on her own. But instead, us humans are making decisions about whether to end her life or not. This must be the worst decision to ever be confronted with, and it’s honestly not softened by the fact that it’s a dog - she might as well have been a family member. We all love Cookie very much.

My thoughts and prayers are with Cookie, and hopefully there’s a doggy heaven that her soul will go to. Hopefully we are doing the right thing.

Thanks for being the best dog ever, Cooks. I will miss you very much.

My lesson: Chores, cleaning your house, making money, working, etc. etc. When it comes down to it, the only important thing is the memories you have with the people you love. Dogs included. :-)
